
Art Alliance The purpose of the Art Alliance is to promote intrinsic interests in the Visual Arts. This organization affords its members opportunities to visit local and regional art galleries and Museums. Beachcomber (Student Newspaper) The Beachcomber is an organization intended to unify our campus community. It is used as a medium to communicate information and express student opinion both generally and individually. The college paper is not just appropriate for journalism majors, it's appropriate for all students. Involvement opportunities range from artistry, writing, and photography to copy editing, lay out, and advertising. Black Student Union (BSU) The purpose of BSU is to recognize and promote students of color at PBCC and promote interest among minority groups. Membership is open to all students. Brain Bowl Brain Bowl is an intercollegiate team competition utilizing curriculum-based questions generated by community college faculty throughout the State of Florida. The team competes with other community colleges in annual regional and state tournaments. Selection for the five team members begins midway in the Spring academic term for practices throughout the following Fall term. Tournaments are held in the early Spring term. Practices, scrimmages, and competitions are challenging and enjoyable. Scholarships are available to students who are selected for the team. Circle K International (Kiwanis) Circle K holds the promise of today's college student becoming tomorrow's leader. Members of Circle K are responsible citizens and leaders with a lifelong commitment to community service worldwide, collaborating with all members of the Kiwanis family to achieve common objectives. The club exists to meet the personal needs of students through qualities of leadership, rewards of service, and the unique spirit of friendship. The club provides students with the opportunity to participate in organized volunteer activities providing needed service to individuals, families, agencies, and the community. Circle K is sponsored by local Kiwanis clubs and provides students with the opportunities to interact with professionals in the community. Community Earth Keeps students current on environmental issues, activities, career opportunities and provide speakers from the community to further the knowledge and interests regarding all aspects of environmental protectionism. Dream To Do It Club The purpose of this club is to provide a place where nontraditional students ages 25 and up can meet, exchange helpful ideas, encourage, and support each other as they move towards accomplishing their educational goals. Community volunteer efforts will also be an important part of the club’s activities. Faith Walkers Christian Fellowship The purpose of Faith Walkers is to provide students who have similar religious and or spiritual beliefs with an opportunity to fellowship in a non-denominational Christian atmosphere, and to meet the spiritual needs of the students of Palm Beach Community College - Eissey Campus. Florida Future Educators of America (FFEA) Future Educators of America introduces students to careers in the field of education by providing opportunities for service, tutoring at elementary schools, leadership and exploration. Gay-Straight Alliance The purpose of the Gay-Straight Alliance is to provide a safe place for students (gay and straight) to meet and support each other. The Gay-Straight Alliance works toward creating greater awareness and sensitivity about gender identity and sexual orientation issues. Intramurals The intramural program at PBCC - Eissey campus is available to students in order to increase their physical fitness, provide practical applications of sound mental and emotional principles, augment worthy use of their leisure time, and meet in harmonious social contacts with others of their peer groups. The activities will provide a broad selection of sports (as facilities allow), ranging from those of a highly competitive nature to those of a non-competitive nature. Activities will consist of co-ed teams and individual sports in order to accomodate the widest possible range of needs and interests of our student body. Math Olympics The purpose of the Math Olympics is to provide a meeting place for those students who enjoy math. The Math Olympics promotes problem-solving skills through the preparation for and participation in events such as the Florida Math Olympics and the AMATYC Math league. Activities include field trips to engineering firms and other related businesses, guest speakers and tutoring sessions held by the Math Olympics for the general student population. Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Gamma Sigma Chapter) The purpose of PTK is to recognize and encourage scholarship at PBCC - Eissey Campus. Phi Theta Kappa is an honor/service society of Community/Junior Colleges. With more than 800 chapters internationally, PBCC is fortunate to have separate chapters on all four campuses. Minimum eligibility requirements include at least twelve hours completed and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20. As an honor society, the organization shall provide the opportunity for the development of leadership, service and academic excellence. Political Forum The purpose of the Political Forum is to promote political stance and awareness of current events in and around the world. Weekly discussions are held. The club sponsors various experts who are invited to speak about national and international issues. Psi Beta Psi Beta is the National Honor Society in Psychology for community College and Junior College students. The mission of Psi Beta is professional development of Psychology students through promotion and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research and community service. Admission is by invitation only. Radiography The Radiography club membership is composed of all Radiography students currently enrolled. Its purpose is to promote health, professionalism, scholarship, leadership, education and social responsibility through school and community involvement. Activities include local, state and national seminars as well as field trips to various health care educational institutions. Respiratory Club The Respiratory Club membership is composed of all Respiratory Therapy students currently enrolled. Its purpose is to promote health, professionalism, scholarship, leadership, education and social responsibility through school and community involvement. Activities include local, state and national seminars as well as field trips to various health care and educational institutions. Spanish and Latino Student Association (S.A.L.S.A.) The purpose of S.A.L.S.A. is to increase awareness of the Spanish Heritage, promote fellowship among all students, develop a sense of responsibility for our community, and recognize the accomplishments of the Spanish community in the local, national, and international arena. Student Government Association (SGA) The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the official student voice to the administration, the Board of Regents, and Legislature. Our mission is to earnestly represent the interests of students by increasing student decision-making power, improving campus life through the creation and continuation of viable and effective student services preserving and protecting the traditions of the College supporting students in their academic and community endeavors. To this end, new leaders are elected from and by the general student populace each fall, and weekly assembly meetings are held to discuss issues and initiate projects.
