BECOMING A LEADER ~ Introduction to leadership ~ Basics on leadership theory and organization development ~ Introduction and discussion of the “Student Leadership Practices Inventory” ~ Participation Of activities to enhance understanding of theories and SLPI PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD: LESSONS IN LEADERSHIP AND PERSONAL GOAL SETTING Students will be participating in a conversation about the skills needed for positive leadership. Students will be examining their personal academic and leadership goals and practicing strategies for achieving those goals. WE ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME BECOMING A TEAM ~ Active participation in fun and challenging team building activities ~ Students will also have the opportunity to practice facilitating activities ~ Team development ~ Organizational behavior ~ Conflict resolution ~ Communication Skills WHO ARE YOU? UNDERSTANDING YOUR PERSONAL LEADERSHIP STYLE Students will be participating in activities that enhance their understanding of their own leadership style. VERIFYING YOUR TYPE PREFERENCES! Students will be able to verifying their type preferences through ~ A slide presentation. ~ Take the Myers-Briggs test and review the results. WELCOME BACK! WHAT IS YOUR TYPE? ~ Welcoming back each other ~ Introduction to Personality Typologies ~ Participants will be able to take the Myers-Briggs exam ~ Determine and understand the results of the exam LET’S SHARPEN THOSE COMMUNICATION SKILLS! Students will be given the opportunity to practice their listening and verbal skills. Students will engage in a discussion that will address positive conflict resolution. STRATEGIES FOR YOUR FUTURE SUCCESS! Participation in business etiquette lunch ~ Image building ~ Networking skills ~ Public speaking ~ Resume building and interviewing skills STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: FROM NUTS TO BOLTS Topics of discussion and group activity include ~ Meeting management ~ Program planning ~ Delegation ~ Running for a new leadership position YOU’VE GOT POTENTIAL!
