Test Center Information

  • About the Test Centers

    There are four Test Center locations available to provide a variety of tests and support services for students and faculty and the local community.

    TEST FEES & TEST Information:
  • ALL test fees need to be pre-paid before testing. Test fees are non-refundable. Some tests require a fee, others do not.
  • ALL test fees are based on a per test charge. For example, if you take two Make-Up Tests on the same day, you will pay the test fee of $5.00 for each test.
  • It is important to note that all tests are not offered at every campus. Some tests are by appointment only others are not.

The CLAST test has been repealed, effective July 1, 2009. Please refer to link, CLAS Degree Information for update.

CLEP (College Level Examination Program) $72.00 for each exam with a $25.00 registration fee. NEW: Funding for CLEP Exams extended to eligible military veterans. You can receive full reimbursement for a CLEP exam and administration fees from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. PBCC students are required to see an Academic Advisor to determine if a CLEP test is accepted for their area of study. More information regarding CLEP exams

Compass ESL $15.00. The Compass is a test of English proficiency and is required of any student whose first language is not English. Students should check with the Office of Admissions or Advising to determine if this test is needed. Available at all campuses.

CPT (FCELPT College Placement Test) $15.00 for current PBCC students. Students must wait thirty days before re-taking the CPT. Scores will not be considered valid unless 30 days have passed. The Florida College Entry-Level Placement Test (FCELPT or Accuplacer CPT) is offered during regular hours of operation at all of PBCC’s campuses. Students should check the appropriate Test Center web page for hours of operation. No appointment is necessary at PBCC. NOTE: Proof of English proficiency may be required prior to the administration of this test for students whose first language is not English.

Course Options for Credit & Prep Classes More info regarding CPT (Accuplacer)

Non-PBCC students planning to attend another school can take the Accuplacer CPT at a PBCC Campus Test Center. A completed non-credit application is required and should be submitted to the Office of Admissions. A $30.00 test fee is required in the Cashiers Office prior to taking the test

BAT(Basic Abilities Test) $25.00 Contact the Lake Worth Test Center for information about this test. Effective, May 1, 2009, the BAT test will ONLY be administered to qualified PBCC Criminal Justice Academy applicants.

Health Challenge Test $40.00 ($20.00 a credit hour, not to exceed $40.00)

Certain courses offer a challenge test which allows students to earn credit based on experience or prior knowledge. These tests are normally given at specific times during the month. Some require an appointment. These tests are available through the Lake Worth Campus Testing Center only

HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test) $25.00 Required for Surgical Technician and Dental Assistant programs. Only available at Lake Worth and Belle Glade campus.

Make-Up Tests $5.00. A student who has missed a regularly schedule classroom test may be required to take a make-up test. The decision to allow the make-up test is the instructor’s. Make-up tests are administered during regular operating hours of the Testing Centers. It is up to the student to make the appropriate arrangements for the test. No appointment is necessary.

National FireFighter Selection Inventory (NFSI) $25.00. This test is required for entry into the PBCC FireFighter, Paramedic, and EMT programs. This test is available at the Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth and Boca Raton Campuses. Appointment is required at the Boca Raton Campus.

National League Nursing Mobility Test (NLN) $15.00. The NLN offers several tests. The type of test needed is determined by PBCC’s Nursing Department. Permission is required from PBCC’s Nursing Department prior to testing. These tests are administered on the Lake Worth Campus only.

Nursing Pro-Calc $5.00 Only available at Lake Worth and the Belle Glade campus.

PBCC Distance Learning Tests These tests are available at all campuses. They are given on a walk-in basis during regular hours of operation. Distance Learning students may take an exam at the Test Center of their choice, providing the Instructor has submitted the exam with directions to the Test Center. Generally, there is no fee, unless a test is taken as a make-up. Then the fee is $5.00 per test.

TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) $15.00. The TABE is a state requirement for students to receive a PSAV certificate in programs more than 450 contact hours. TABE is available at all test centers. Students must wait thirty days before retaking the TABE, unless they provide proof of successful remediation from the VPI (Vocational Preparatory Instruction) Lab.

TEAS $30.00 Required by LPN program. Only available at the Lake Worth Campus.

Teacher Certification Exams: General Knowledge and Professional Education Tests are offered only at the Palm Beach Gardens Test Center on designated dates. Look under the Palm Beach Gardens location for more information. The test administration dates on the PBCC Eissey Campus are September 12, 2009, October 24, 2009. Registration packets are available for pick up at the Test Center, Palm Beach Gardens campus.

Students can choose to present passing scores on the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Test (GKT), or PRAXIS 1 for admission to a state approved teacher preparation program. Passing portions of the GKT or PRAXIS 1 may be combined for admission. Note, the General Knowledge Test remains an approved program completion requirement for teacher preparation programs.

THE SHIELD Required by Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Three different fees; test one is $12.00, test two and three are $25.00, each. Entire test $62.00. Examinee must pass test one before test two can be administered and pass test two before test three can administered. Only available at the Lake Worth Campus.

Other Institutions Proctoring services are available at all campuses, only at the discretion of the Test Center Coordinator. Check availability on the campus of choice.

The fee is $30.00 per test for test administration and proctoring of exams from public/private colleges and universities, and technical and career institutes, etc.

Requests for Accommodations: There is no test fee for students receiving PBCC disability support services. The Testing Centers can accommodate students who qualify for testing accommodations based on a documented disability. Student requests must be verified through PBCC's Office of Disability Support Services. Appointments may be necessary for this service. Students are asked to contact their home campus Disability Support Services Coordinator for more information.

ATTENTION ALL TEST CANDIDATES! taking any test:

You must allow enough time to complete your test as per instructor's stated test time before the Test Center closes for the day.

For Example: If the instructor has allotted two hours for a test, the student needs to be seated in the Test Center by 5:00 PM if closing time is 7:00 PM.
