Preference will be given to eligible veterans and eligible spouses of veterans who meet the advertised qualifications for administrative, professional and support positions. Veteran preference is not applicable to faculty positions including counselors, librarians, and adjunct faculty. To claim veteran preference, the College's veteran preference claim form must be completed and attached electronically to the position with appropriate documentation of military service at the time the application is submitted.

The following changes to Veterans' Preference in Florida are effective July 1, 2007:

1. Preference in eligibility no longer expires upon appointment of the eligible person to a position with the state or any political subdivision of the state.

2. Persons who were previously ineligible because they held or are currently holding a position with a public employer are now eligible to use their veterans’ preference again with all employers covered by law.

3. Persons who were previously ineligible for preference because they did not serve during an eligible wartime period may now be eligible for Veterans’ Preference if they served during Operation Enduring Freedom (October 7, 2001-present) or Operation Iraqi Freedom (March 19, 2003-present).
