IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PALM BEACH COMMUNITY COLLEGE MONTESSORI TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM –
EARLY CHILDHOOD LEVEL

• Palm Beach Community College Early Childhood Montessori Teacher Training Program is affiliated with the American Montessori Society* (AMS) and holds accredited status for its early childhood teacher education  certification course from the  Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education **(MACTE Commission) through the year 2014. 

• Students who successfully complete the program are eligible for the Florida ECPC.

• Students entering Palm Beach Community College Early Childhood Montessori Teacher Training Program must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited institution in order to be eligible for certification through the American Montessori Society (AMS) at the successful completion of the program.  The degree need not be in education.  An official transcript must be sent to Susan J. Haines, Coordinator, Montessori Programs, Palm Beach Community College, 4200 Congress Avenue, Lake Worth, FL 33461.  An associate credential may be awarded to students who do not have a four-year college degree.  Students holding a Montessori credential from a non-AMS affiliated training program and who have a four-year degree may contact the program coordinator  for information on how to earn an AMS credential.

• The courses in the program are offered through  Early Childhood Education.

• All of the courses in the program are offered at the Lake Worth location of Palm Beach Community College.

• Academic Phase of the Program:  August 22, 2008 to May 7, 2009

• Practicum Phase of the Program:  2009-2010 School Year
(5 days/week, 4 hrs./day in an approved Montessori early childhood classroom)

• Students may register at any of Palm Beach Community College’s four locations:  Lake Worth, Boca Raton, Belle Glade, and Palm Beach Garden’s.  Check PBCC’s website: 
www.pbcc.edu for directions.

• Registration begins July 17, 2008.  Students must complete an application, show proof of residency, and bring a college transcript or take the College Placement Test (CPT).
