Career Profile - What You Need to Know About...

Early Childhood Education/Montessori Track (2349)

At a Glance
 This degree program provides the student with a thorough background in all aspects of child development with a special emphasis on Montessori philosophy and methodology.
Employment Opportunities Students who successfully complete this program can seek educator positions in private, licensed Montessori early childhood classrooms as well as assistant teaching positions in public Montessori magnet schools. Students who also have a Florida teaching certificate can seek educator positions in public Montessori magnet schools.
Career Path Notes Students who have earned their Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification at PBCC are eligible to receive nine credits that can be applied toward an A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education.

Students who successfully complete the Required Montessori Track Courses (29 credits) are eligible to receive an internationally recognized certificate from the American Montessori Society (AMS).

Students who have not earned CDA Certification are eligible to receive CDAE Certification upon receipt of an AMS certificate.

The A.S. degree is a two-year, terminal degree and only some of the credits from coursework can be transferred to a four-year program at this time. If you are interested in a four-year degree, please research the associate in arts (A.A.) degree.
