Prerequisites

  1. Application Fee
    Submit a completed PBCC Nursing Program application to the PBCC Limited Access Program Office on the Lake Worth campus along with the $20 nonrefundable Application Fee.

  2. Transcripts
    Official high school transcript or General Education Diploma (GED) transcripts from all colleges attended.

  3. Complete the pre-requistes:
    1. Chemistry
      completion of one year of college chemistry (CHM1020 or equivalent) within the last 10 years.
    2. Anatomy and Physiology
      College level anatomy and physiology with lecture and lab (BSC 2085, BSC 2085L or equivalent lecture and lab) within the last 10 years
      * If a student has successfully completed A&P 2 with a Lab earning a grade of C or higher within the last 10 years of the application deadline, the 10 year requirement for A&P I will be waived.

    3. Introduction to Developmental Concepts
      Completion of college level Human Growth and Development course (HSC1010 or DEP2004). NUR2130 will no longer be accepted after Fall 2007 admissions.
    4. All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher.


  4. NLN Pre-Admission Exam
    Information about this test and test dates are available online*. Students must self-register online at the official NLN website . Test must be taken and scores on file by application date. Tests are available twice a year, once in the Spring and again in the Fall. Registration for the Fall Test begins on June 1st and ends on August 16th..
    *Please arrive early! on the day of the test. Make sure to bring your REGISTRATION FORM that you print off of the NLN web site when you register. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT BRING THEIR REGISTRATION FORM WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE TEST. The registration form must be printed from the NLN site. A valid photo ID is also required.

  5. Math Proficiency
    Score 80 % or higher on NURSE PROCALC. Details are available in the Nursing Office (AH110) and at the PBCC Testing Center. They are also provided during Information Sessions.

  6. Placement Test Scores
    Scores must meet minimum requirements for entrance into college level English and math courses or required remediation must be completed successfully before the application deadline.

  7. Transfer Applicant Only (including LPNs & Paramedics)
    NUR 2000L - Introduction to Professional Nursing is offered as a distance learning course online.
