Meet the Coaches

 

HEAD COACH - Alex Morales

Alex Morales, a PBCC alumnus and a former scout with the Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Scouting Bureau, is the baseball coach.
Morales worked for the Major League Scouting Bureau for three years prior to coming to PBCC. He also was a minor league coach and scout for six years with the Milwaukee Brewers and has several championships to his credit.

Morales’ baseball career began as a student at Belle Glade Christian High School. He played baseball for PBCC in Lake Worth from 1983-86 and for the University of South Florida where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He later earned a B.A. in education from Nova Southeastern University. His teaching and coaching career began at his high school alma mater and continued at Forest Hill High School from 1989-94. He spent the next year as an assistant coach at PBCC, leaving the college to coach and scout for the Brewers. Morales spent two years scouting for the Atlanta Braves after that. He had been with the Major League Scouting Bureau since 2002.

As a major league scout, Morales traveled all over the world to scout players, watching around 400 baseball games a year. "I’ve watched every kind of coaching imaginable," he said. "I spent time in Asia, the Caribbean, Canada, Europe and all over the United States.”

His new position at PBCC will allow the Wellington resident to spend more time with his wife, Clare, and their two sons, Mitchell and Matthew. Morales brings a wealth of experience to PBCC.

"It’s a dream to coach where I went to school," he said. "I’m looking forward to getting to know each player every year and guiding them in the right direction."

ASSISTANT COACH - Mychal Teman

Mychal is returning to the Palm Beach Community College Coaching Staff. He will be coaching the Outfielders and Hitters.

Mychal grew up in Boynton Beach, FL and graduated High School nearby from Atlantic Community High School. He lettered in baseball, basketball, and football during his relm of 1992 - 1996.

Mychal played baseball here at PBCC after High School, were he was named First Team Southern Coference in 1999. He then moved on to Florida Atlantic University were he blew out his shoulder playing for Legendary Coach Kevin Cooney. After hurting his shoulder he then moved on to coaching at Atlantic High School for two years while finishing up his Degree at FAU. Once graduating college Mychal started teaching at Lake Worth Community High School. He is a Mathematics teacher since 2002 till the present. In the Summers he coaches an American Legion Baseball Team that has been to the State Tournament on numerous occasions. Mychal started coaching here at PBCC in 2002 as well under Skipper Craig Gero.

Mychal got married on November 19th 2005 and he and his wife Jamie now reside in West Palm Beach.

ASSISTANT COACH - Kyle Forbes

Forbes returns as a PBCC Assistant Coach. He will coach the Panther Pitchers and Catchers. Forbes grew up in Boynton Beach and graduated from Atlantic High School. He lettered in three Varsity sports and was named the Athlete of the Year in 1987.

Forbes played college baseball at nearby Palm Beach Atlantic University. In 1989, he was named to the NAIA Distict 25 All Academic Team. Forbes began his coaching career at Florida Atlantic University. He was an assistant coach under legendary skipper Kevin Cooney. Both years that Forbes was at FAU, the team was ranked in the top ten in the country. In 1994, Forbes was hired as the Head Baseball Coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University. During his nine seasons at the helm, Forbes amassed an overall record of 244 wins and 198 losses. The Sailfish qualified for the post season six times, and were ranked as high as eight in the NAIA National Baseball Poll. The past two seasons Forbes has served as the Pitching Coach at Northwood University under the tutelage of Head Coach Rick Smoaliak. The two years that Forbes was at Northwood the Seahawks had 73 wins and 43 losses.

Forbes has been an Associate Scout for three major league organizations. From 1993 - 1995, Forbes was on associate Scout for the Cleveland Indians. From 1995 - 2000, he was with the Milwaukee Brewers. And he served in the same capacity for the Atlanta Braves from 2001 to the present.

Forbes received a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University. He has taught fifth grade at Coral Sunset Elemetary School in Boca since 1993. Kyle and his wife Tammy reside in Boynton Beach with their two daughters, Jordan and Jessica.

ASSISTANT COACH/ RECRUITING - Cliff Terracuso

Cliff joined the PBCC baseball staff in 2007 with a wealth of knowledge and lots of experience. Most recent stop spending 3 years at Lipscomb University as their recruiting coordinator as well as many other stops; they include 1 yr at St. Catherine College, KY, 2 yrs at Palm Beach Atlantic U., 2 yrs as Hd Coach at Lake Worth Christian HS, Asst at Harwich, Cape Cod League, Hd Coach at Nashville Stingers with the Sand Lot Wood Bat League, Asst at Hyannis Mets, Cape Cod League and the Sanford Mainers as Asst at the NACBL. We welcome Cliff knowing he will be a great asset to our program.

Cliff will work with our infielders, hitters and recruit for the Panthers.

Assistant Coach - Mike Hammock

2008 will be his first season taking over for Nick Luppino.  Mike played at Wellington High School and later went to Central Florida CC and PBCC where he played during the fall season.  He was the Pitching Coach for Palm Beach Post 12 in 2006. 

We are really looking forward to having Mike join our staff and his youthfulness.
