
What if I forget/lose my PantherCard? Will I still be able to enter the Math Lab without it? As a student, you are allowed one pass per semester if you do not have your PantherCard; after that, you will not be allowed to enter the Lab without a card for the duration of that semester.
How many tutoring appointments can I make? One 30 minute appointment for every day that we are open.
I have a test in a few hours, and I don't know the material, can a tutor teach it to me? You have to come prepared prior to seeing a tutor. This means attending class or catching up on a missed lecture by reading the book and/or watching the taped-lectures. Tutors are not allowed to teach but to assist you in the areas you are having trouble understanding within the allowed time.
I have a take-home test/quiz that my instructor has given me; can a tutor help me with it? Tutors are not allowed to work on problems given on a take-home test, quiz, or graded assignment unless special permission is given by your instructor. Tutors are allowed to help with a similar problem found by you in your textbook.
What are Problem Solving Sessions? Problem Solving Sessions are prescheduled seminars lead by a tutor in which you ask questions regarding material from your class. The amount of time allotted for the session is dependent on the number of students attending the session: one student (20 minutes); two students (40 minutes); three or more students (60 minutes).
What are Strategy Seminars? Strategy Seminars are opportunities for you to gain knowledge and insight regarding some of the challenges of being a successful college student. The topics presented benefit you at all college levels from all content areas. The seminars are only one hour long. They are open forum and interactive and the material is presented in a variety of ways in order to meet the needs of all learning styles.
Can I talk on my cell phone in the Math Lab? Talking on your cell phone is not permitted in the Math Lab, or in the hallway. Any cell phone calls must be taken outside the building.
Can I charge my laptop and/or cell phone in the Math Lab? Charging your laptop, cell phone, or any electronic devices is not permitted in the Math Lab.
If I don't have my textbook with me, is it possible to borrow a textbook from the Math Lab? Yes, you may use your PantherCard to check-out a textbook while in the Math Lab; borrowed books and additional resources are not to be taken out of the Math Lab for any reason.
Can I bring food or drinks to the Math Lab? Food is not allowed in the Math lab; only beverages in a spill proof liquid container can be brought in. (Styrofoam, paper, or plastic cups with plastic snap-on lids are also not permitted).
Can I bring a non-PBCC student with me to the Math Lab? Only currently enrolled PBCC students are allowed in the Lab. Non-PBCC students (children or adults) are not permitted in the Math Lab even if accompanied by a PBCC student.
