************************************************************** 1. PBCC "Unplugged": Due to electrical system upgrades ALL PBCC Computing & Communication Resources will be unavailable during Spring Break, Monday, March 9 through Thursday, March 12. Please go to http://www.pbcc.edu/x16932.xml for additional information about the services affected. These upgrades are essential as the College responds to continued growth and increased system requirements.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. Did you know that in addition to free tutoring, the Student Learning Center offers Supplemental Instruction? SI is a program of structured study sessions that targets courses where large numbers of students withdraw or receive a grade of D or F. It's free, attendance is voluntary, and students of all skill levels benefit from it. SI emphasizes study skills and strategies as much as course content. The sessions are conducted by students who already have successfully completed the targeted courses, and who attend the same classes again, with the same instructors. The sessions are offered in addition to the regular classroom instruction. SI attendees typically earn ½ to one full letter grade higher in the targeted courses than non-attendees. SI is helping students to succeed at more than 1000 colleges around the world.
For more information, call or e-mail SI Supervisor Steve Arterburn at 868-3796, arterbus@pbcc.edu.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. The PBCC men's and women's basketball teams are approaching the last month of the regular season in hopes of advancing into March Madness and the NJCAA Tournament. There are only a few home games left so the Athletic Department would like to invite all of our students and staff to come out and enjoy exciting Panther Basketball.
Home games at the Elisabeth Erling Gym in February are Feb. 14 (4 pm), 18 (7 pm), and 21. The women close out their home season with games on Feb. 11 (5 pm), 16 (5 pm) and 21 (2 pm).
