Adjunct College Credit Instructors
Job Description: Teach FFP courses that make up the A.S. Fire Science degree. Most class hours are from 0830 to 1730, and run five to six days. The classes can be taught on a firefighter schedule which is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and the following Wednesday to accommodate the instructor. Some classes are offered at night from 1800 – 2200, usually on a firefighter schedule.
Minimum Requirements: You must hold a current Florida Fire Instructor II or III certificate. An A.S. degree in Fire Science is preferable because you must have taken all classes you wish to teach. The PBCC Fire Instructor Orientation and interview is required before being considered.
Pay: A.S. or bachelor degree pay is $32.21 per hour. Masters degree pay is $35.92 per hour.
Adjunct Instructor Application Process
- Click on this link: http://www.pbcc.edu/Employment.xml
- Click on “Job Search” found on the left side of the page. Click on “Search Postings”
- Click on the drop down arrow beside “Position Title” Look for “Adjunct Instructor/Fire Science” and click on it.
- Click on “Search”
- Click on the “View” link under the “Position Title” column. This will take you to “Job Details”
- Click on “Apply for This Position” This will take you to the “Log In to Continue” page.
- Follow directions under “New Applicant”
- Click on link “Fill out a new Application” This will take you to ”Create New Application for Adjunct Faculty Employment” page.
- Select a user name and password then click on “Continue to page one of adjunct faculty application”
You will be at “Create Application for Adjunct Faculty Employment”
- Follow directions and keep going to the next page. You will be at “Create Application for Adjunct Faculty Employment” page 1 of 7
- Keep filling out and “saving and continuing to next” When you get to the last page you can edit and print the application if you choose.
- Click “Continue” This will take you to the “Confirm Change Application Status” page
- Click on “Confirm” if you are ready to submit your application. This will take you to “Attach Documents - Adjunct Instructor/Fire Science’ page.
- Attach any documents that you can and then click “Finished Attaching Documents” This will take you to the “Confirm” page.
- Click the “Yes” button if you are finished. This will take you to the “Attach Documents - Adjunct Instructor/Fire Science” page with your confirmation number listed.
- Click “OK” This will take you to the “Application Status” page. Hooray, you’re done.
Stop by the Fire/Emergency Management Office located in TC-120 at the Lake Worth Campus of PBCC and pick up and fill out the internal application packet.
