Volleyball season ends at State tournament: The PBCC volleyball team concluded a successful campaign with a match record of 26-12. Unfortunately 2 of those match losses came in the State tournament at the hands of FSC @ Jacksonville. On Thursday the Panthers lost in 3 straight games to FSC but bounced back on Friday to defeat Lake Sumter in 3. Friday evening in the 7pm match PBCC came up on the short end again in a much more competitive match as they lost 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, and 23-25 to end their season.

Volleyballers qualify for "elite 8": The PBCC volleyball team will be making a return trip to the FCCAA State tournament where they finished 3rd last season with an inspiring match win against Broward on the road Thursday Oct 22. PBCC lost the first game in the tightly contested match 23-25 but came back to win their next three games 25-22, 25-20 and 27-25 to punch their ticket to the State tournament held in Winter Haven November 5-7. PBCC has now won 15 of their last 18 matches.

After another home sluggish start the PBCC volleyball team earned the right to play their final regular season game meaning something. The Panthers disposed of Brevard on Tuesday night in Lake Worth with a 19-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 win to run their regular season match record to 24-10 and 7-4 in the Southern Conference. The Panthers will have a shot to qualify for a return trip to the FCCAA State Tournament with a win Thursday night on the road against conference rival Broward. PBCC has now won 14 of their last 17 matches

The Panthers geared up for their last week of the regular season by going 3-1 in matches over the weekend at the Florida Community College tournament. On Friday PBCC defeated Springfield College 3-0 before dropping an 0-3 decision to the host school. Saturday PBCC defeated both Johnson County and Brevard by scores of 3-2 and 3-1. The Panthers have won 13 of their last 16 matches and will face a key Southern Conference match in Elisabeth Erling gym on Tuesday Oct 20 @ 7pm vs. Brevard before finishing their regular season at Broward on Thursday October 22.

Going back to back nights against conference opponents didn't bode well for the Panthers Wednesday in Miami as they fell in three straight games to the defending Southern Conference and State Champions, Miami Dade. The loss drops PBCC to 20-9 on the year and 6-4 in the conference. The Panthers have 2 key conference games next Tuesday and Thursday in a battle for the right to qualify for the state tournament against Brevard @ home on Tuesday Oct 20 and Broward on the road Thursday Oct 22. PBCC is currently 3rd in the conference and the top 2 teams advance to the State finals.

After a lackluster start where they were beaten 21-25 the PBCC volleyball team rebounded to capture the next three games against Indian River State College. The Panthers captured the last three games of the match by scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-16 to win their 10th match in their last 11 outings. In the process the Panthers ran their regular season match record to 20-8.

The Panthers ran their consecutive match winning streak to 8 at the Lake Sumter tournament this past weekend with 3-0, 3-0 wins over State College of Florida ( Manatee ) and St. John's on Friday October 9. On Saturday the host school, Lake Sumter stopped PBCC 3-0 before the Panthers responded in the afternoon match in defeating Gulf Coast 3-1. PBCC has now gone 9-1 in their last 10 matches and have improved their overall record to an impressive 19-8.
The Panthers will host Brevard on Tuesday October 13 at 7pm in Elisabeth Erling Gymnasium in a key Southern Conference matchup.

PBCC ran its match winning streak to 6 in a row as they took 12 of 13 games played this past weekend at the South Florida College tournament. On Friday night the Panthers defeated Indian River and State College of Florida by identical scores of 3-0 and 3-0. On Saturday Palm Beach defeated Gulf Coast 3-1 and Webber 3-0 to wrap up a successful tourney. Panther ladies Natalie Harville and Annie Kobeski were named to the All Tournament Team.

It took the Panthers 2 hours and 1 minute of struggle but they came out on top in 4 games against conference rival Broward on Tuesday night in Elisabeth Erling Gymnasium. In front of a small but boisterious crowd PBCC continued their improvement as they won 25-23, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-20 to move their record to 5-3 in Southern Conference play. The next two weeks the Panthers are on the road before they return home to face off against Indian River on Tuesday October 13 @ 7pm.

Mixed Bag for Panthers over Weekend: The PBCC Volleyball team took to the road on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this past week and came away with a 3-2 record in match play. On Thursday, the Panthers defeated conference rival Indian River 3 games to 1 to move their Southern Conference record to 3-2. On Friday, PBCC lost 6 games in a row and were defeated by Pasco Hernando and Grand Rapids (MI) 0-3, 0-3. Saturday, the volleyballers responded with 2 good performances against Polk (3-1) and Manatee (3-1) to move their overall record for the season to 10-6.

PBCC Tournament Wrapup: The Panther tournament held over the weekend had a little of everything as Lake Sumter, South Florida, Pasco Hernando, St. John's and Polk visited Elisabeth Erling Gym on Friday and Saturday Sept. 11 and 12. Power outages and fire alarms caused some delay in the tournament but with some adjustments everything went off as scheduled. The Panthers started extremely strong as they won their first two matches 3-0 and 3-0 against Lake Sumter and South Florida but stumbled in the last match of the day against Pasco Hernando 2-3. Saturday's sessions turned out well as the improving PBCC volleyball team gathered wins against St. John's and Polk 3-0 and 3-0.

The inaugrual Southern Conference Tournament was held in Elisabeth Erling Gymnasium over the Labor Day weekend and the Panthers came out with a 2-2 split. On Friday afternoon PBCC opened play with a convincing win over Brevard 25-22, 25-18 and 25-15, but even a surprise visit by the PBCC mascot could not stop the ensuing onslaught as the defending state champs, Miami Dade, defeated our Panthers 25-9, 25-20 and 25-12.
On Saturday in the first match the Panthers continued their slumber as Broward defeated them in three straight games 25-23, 25-14 and 25-14. In the final contest of the day against Indian River State College, the Panthers awoke and won a thrilling five game 2 hour and 15 minute marathon 25-20, 25-27, 16-25, 25-23 and 15-11.

The PBCC Volleyball team opened their season with a split on the road against St. Pete and Brevard on Friday August 28. In the opener against St. Pete the Panthers lost 19-25, 25-19, 18-25, and 17-25 as they really couldn't solve the opposing team during the contest. Standouts for the match were Kara Wenz with 13 kills and 12 digs, Jessie Kubiak 27 digs, Annie Kobeski 7 kills and Ali Sinden with 21 assists.
In the second contest of the afternoon against the host team, Brevard, the Panthers played with much more energy and execution and defeated the home team 25-15, 25-20 and 27-25. Standouts in the second match were Wenz with 8 kills and 5 digs, Kubiak with 17 digs and Lindsey Mullen with 24 assists.
