Lauren Tashman
Lauren received a B.A. in Psychology in 2003 from The College of New Jersey. She obtained a Master's in Sport Psychology from Florida State University in 2005 and also has a certificate in Program Evaluation. Her thesis examined the effects of perfectionism and perceived stress on burnout in coaches. She is currently working on her dissertation to complete her PhD in Sport Psychology from FSU. For her dissertation she is developing and evaluating a computer program aimed at giving sport psychology graduate students practice with problem-solving consulting scenarios.
Lauren is a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Lauren's sport background includes 13 years of equestrian showjumping. She had planned on participating in the sport professionally, but a developed fear of being injured and loss of confidence resulted in her ending her riding career early. If only she knew then what she knows now about the impact of mental skills on performance. However, the end of her riding career directed her towards sport psychology so that she is now able to help others use mental skills to overcome performance obstacles in order to realize their full potential.
While at FSU she accumulated six years of supervised experience in providing performance enhancement services to sport teams, athletes, exercisers, and coaches of varying levels and age groups, and has given workshops to sport teams and musicians. She has also had extensive experience in researching expert performance in areas, such as sport, nursing, academic learning, and police work. Lauren has now started her own performance consulting business, Inspire Performance Consulting, LLC, providing performance enhancement services for sport, business, education, health, and life.
