Come Work with Us!
The success of our program is due in large part to the outstanding staff, faculty, students, Assistants, Interns and volunteers that work closely together to create a fun educational environment in the summer. We have five programs to engage PBCC and Community Partners to make it all happen:
Intern Program
Interns are volunteers who can receive Community Service hours by assisting teachers with their classes and escorting students to classes, breaks, and lunch. Interns are at least 15 years old and may apply to be an intern by reading this letter and e-mailing your letter of intent to the Community Education Coordinator at sullivaj@pbcc.edu. We are happy to provide documentation of volunteer work and to give glowing letters of recommendation - provided they have earned it! Interns will undergo training and are given priority to be Assistants in future summers.
Assistant Program
Assistants are employees of the college that work for Summer Youth College. They must be 18 years or older and are paid at a flat rate for 30 hours a week, Monday through Thursday, June 22- July 30. Please read this Letter and respond to the Community Education Coordinator for more information at sullivaj@pbcc.edu. Assistants will undergo Leadership Camp and may be eligible for a National Certificate in Student Leadership if all tasks are complete.
SYC Volunteer Corps
SYC needs volunteers on an ongoing bases to perform clerical functions in the office, help to manage supplies, and to deliver flyers and catalogs to local schools for backpack stuffing. If you would like to help out on a one time basis, or an ongoing basis, just contact Jeannette Sullivan at 561-868-3214 or sullivaj@pbcc.edu. Your kindness will be acknowledged on the website.
Make a Donation
Many of our students would not be able to participate without the generous contributions of others. If you would like to help, please contact the office at 561-868-3214. Funds are matched by parents or guardians class by class.
SYC Finale Festival
We need help with ticketing, decorating and organizing the stage among other things. Students will share their summer learning experience and projects with family and friends on August 1st. Skits, art work, dance, science projects and other accomplishments will be on display and food and logo gear will be available for a fee. Check the website in June for additional information
