Dual enrollment registration begins July 23rd! !
What is dual enrollment?
The Dual Enrollment Program enables qualified public, private AND home-school students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades to enroll in approved academic and vocational courses offered through Palm Beach Community College. The credits that students earn count toward both a high school diploma and a college degree or vocational certificate. Dual enrollment courses are free to students who attend a Florida public college or university; this includes registration, tuition and fees. Instructional materials (books) are provided to public school students free of charge through the School District of Palm Beach County; however, students enrolled in home education programs or nonpublic secondary schools must provide their own materials.
Is dual enrollment right for everyone?
In short, NO! Dual Enrollment is an opportunity to take challenging courses and accelerate educational opportunities. Students who successfully complete dual enrollment courses will save time toward their college degree and save money with free tuition and textbooks. However, the amount of work necessary to succeed in college level courses may be much greater than in high school courses. In addition, dual enrollment courses become a part of a student's permanent college transcript and will impact eligibility for financial aid and admission to other postsecondary institututions. Students need to consider future plans when deciding if dual enrollment is right for their situation.
