The Action plans to be submitted on or before January 19, 2007 should:
- State the problem identified in the original QEP
- State the desired outcome of the QEP
- Committee's solution
You must state these three things briefly in the template is located at this link: http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/documents/academic_services/QEP_implemention_plan.doc along with the action steps.
The “solution” should be the action plan to implement steps to get to the desired outcome in a three year or less timeframe. The plan should be detailed and clearly outline the steps needed to make the desired outcome happen.
Consider the following example:
Problem: During a hurricane, a tree limb causes a large hole in your roof, causing a serious leak.
Desired outcome: A repaired roof that does not leak
Solution: Action plan to repair the roof. Your “mapping” of the steps to get to the solution is the action plan. In thinking about this problem, there are two general routes: finding a contractor to do the work for you, or actually doing the work yourself. These two approaches should result in the same outcome (hopefully!) but each would require an entirely different action plan and have different costs and timelines.
Detail is very important – this is a possible action plan for fixing the roof, if you were doing the work yourself:

Action
Budget
Timeline
1
Assess damage
??

2
Buy materials

3

The above plan is not sufficiently detailed to have an accurate assessment of cost or actual time.
Consider this revised plan:

You can also think about the action plan as being “door to door” directions to get you to your destination – all the turns and roads you need to take to get you where you are going.
