News for October 2007
Student Assessments Online No more hunting for pencils! This Fall marks the full implementation of student assessments online. PBCC is one of the first higher education institutions in Florida to administer student assessments of courses and faculty in a completely online manner. This was the result of a partnership between the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Information Technology. This will allow information to be collected in a much more timely and cost efficient way and get valuable information back to the departments more quickly. Program Health Indicators and Program Review
To ensure that programs at the college are current and needed, PBCC has developed a program review process that looks at many different levels of information about programs. This fall, associate deans will be working with faculty and staff to examine program data we term "program health indicators." These data look at program enrollments, graduates, student success rates and other indicators. The reports submitted by the associate deans will help us target areas that need improvement with specific action plans. PBCC has submitted its application to offer a Baccalaureate of Applied Science degree in Supervision & Management to the Department of Education (DOE). The DOE will review the application and the State Board of Education will review for approval at the January or February meeting. If approval is granted, the college will then apply to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to become a baccalaureate degree granting institution (Level II). The current projected timeline has the degree starting in August 2009. |
