Trade & Industry Instructor Profile

Kirk Hoosac
Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

PSAV Instructor for Heating, Venting, and Air Conditioning, Kirk Hoosac, would rather be in Utah looking at scenery than about anywhere else, except, perhaps, in his HVAC shop at PBCC.

Hoosac has more than 37 years of professional experience running service and his own air conditioning business, as well as nearly 12 years teaching students in Palm Beach County schools to be a top-tier serviceman.  He was trained in HVAC at Gateway Technical Institute in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

“I love this trade.  I think there is nothing like it and I would like to be known as a top of the line tech and a good instructor.”

The Competitive Edge

.     As an instructor, Hoosac’s high school vocational education students became highly skilled.  They proved themselves through annual competitions within the Vocational Industrial Clubs of American (V.I.C.A.) contest.  His students won record amounts of awards and recognition.

“There’s regional contests, state contests, and national contests and over 11 ˝ years we won over 36 medals which is hard to do in high tech fields.”

The teacher became a student again when he finished his career with the Palm Beach County School District.  He maintained the air conditioning units in the western part of the district and was able to learn more control and energy management systems on the mammoth machines.
